Outraged by the incident, Assam Public Works (APW), an NGO took the extraordinary step of putting up a hoarding in the city with photographs of the six key accused. The Assam State Women’s Commission (ASWC) too has begun a probe and directed the state government to file a report within a week or earlier. “The incident is unfortunate and we are not happy with the police. They reached the spot late that night and are now taking too much time to catch the culprits,” Meera Barooah, women’s panel chief said.
The victim, who is in shock, is the daughter of a retired policeman and is supposed to join a beautician’s course in Delhi. This incident is shameful for the whole nation. Because of their sons the parents of the culprits have to bow their head before public and at least in future, they should cultivate moral thoughts to their children from their young age.
