Actor Vijayakanth said his priority was to oust Karunanidhi’s “corruption regime.”

Addressing a public meeting as part of the state conference of the DMDK, Vijayakanth said on Sunday [9-1-2011] at Gajjalanaicken Patty near Salem no outfit can come to power in Tamil Nadu without aligning with his DMDK. Amid expectations that he would formally announce the DMDK-AIADMK tie-up at a public meeting in Salem, Vijayakanth merely said his priority was to oust Karunanidhi’s “corruption regime” in Tamil Nadu. As for alliances, he told party cadres “leave the decision to me. I will take a decision without hurting your self-respect and the future of your party.” He said he would neither be a slave nor allow his party men to be enslaved by anybody.

He described the Karunanidhi regime in Tamil Nadu as the “most corrupt and anti-people” in the history of the state and promised followers that the DMDK would soon be a part of a winnable alliance that can protect the state from ‘family misrule’.

“Don’t worry about the alliance. I will decide on it very soon keeping in mind the larger interests of the state. The priority is dislodging the DMK regime here,’’ he said. The entire gathering, comprising thousands of party workers, raised their hands favouring an alliance that can dethrone the DMK government. Vijayakanth devoted the more than one and half hour speech to attacking chief minister M Karunanidhi, who according to Vijayakanth was “the main enemy” of the state and its people.

Describing the ensuing assembly election as a “Dharma Yudh”, Vijayakanth declared that nobody could rule the state without his party’s support. He also made it clear that he would lead the fight against DMK “from the front”.

People’s main response is to support the parties whichever coming to fight against corruption in our country. Our friends can see some of the Video scenes thro “You Tube”. Thanks to Caption TV.

Whether M.K.Alagiri will succeed in distancing Kanimozhi and tainted Raja from party affairs.

Whether M.K.Alagiri will succeed in distancing Kanimozhi and tainted Raja from party affairs.

Last few days back in the alliance with the Congress that bothered Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi earlier, now it is rebellion from a family member that is threatening to cause him embarrassment. Sources say Union minister and Karunanidhi’s older son M K Alagiri is threatening to step down as Union minister for chemicals and fertilizers and quit from the party post of south organising secretary, expressing unhappiness over “several issues, both personal and those relating to party affairs”.

A day after the renewed friendship between the Congress and the DMK, marked by a quote by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the alliance remained strong, talk of Alagiri putting pressure on his father with two resignation letters dominated a DMK high-level meeting and threatened to sour the upbeat mood. Sources close to the family said M.K.Alagiri met Karunanidhi on January 1 to greet him on the New Year and hand over his resignation letters “to convey his displeasure over several matters”.

The DMK grapevine has it that Alagiri laid down certain demands, threatening to resign if the party leadership failed to fulfill them. MK Alagiri has laid down certain demands, threatening to resign as Union minister for chemicals and fertilisers if the leadership failed to fulfil them.

The issues included distancing of his sister and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and spectrum scam ‘tainted’ former Union minister A Raja from party affairs and a “important role” for himself in the party administration, particularly in the run-up to the state polls. Alagiri, according to sources, also expressed unhappiness over the fallout of the controversial Radia tapes and a decision by his father to donate his Gopalapuram residence, where he and his siblings grew up, for establishing a hospital.

Close associates said Alagiri had earlier directed the organisers of a government function to be held near Madurai on Wednesday to drop his name from the invitation. Interestingly, his younger brother and deputy chief minister M K Stalin will be the chief guest.

Undeterred by the recent CBI raids on its premises for suspected links in the 2G spectrum scam, Tamil Maiyam, the socio-cultural forum promoted by Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and priest-turned activist Jagath Gasper Raj, is gearing up to organise the 5th edition of the annual folk arts extravaganza, ‘Chennai Sangamam’ from January 12 to 17.

Rev Jagath Gasper Raj estimated that the Chennai Sangamam could cost about 4 crore. Interestingly, Sadhick Batcha, a confidante of former telecom minister A Raja and a suspected beneficiary in the 2G spectrum scam, told Times of India recently that his business group, Green House Promoters, had paid 5 lakh donation for the conduct of Chennai Sangamam in 2006-2007.

It is to be watched whether M.K.Alagiri will succeed in his attempt of distancing of his sister and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and spectrum scam ‘tainted’ former Union minister A Raja from party affairs.

Kalaignar Karunanidhi 26 Cr assets in 2006, now it comes down to 6 Cr?

Kalaignar Karunanidhi 26 Cr assets in 2006, now it comes down to 6 Cr?

Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi on 1-12-2010 in a statement, he claimed his total assets amounted to only 6.01 crore, which included 5.66 crore in fixed deposits and 35 lakh of deposits in savings bank accounts.

He said he had received 100 crore by selling his equity in Sun TV in October 2005 when his grand nephews Kalanithi and Dayanidhi Maran expressed their desire to fully own the company, but chose to distribute much of the post tax receipts of 77.5 crore among his children and kept only 10 crore for himself.
Out of that, 5 crore was donated to the Kalaignar Karunanidhi Trust. The balance, along with the accrued interest, was the only savings he had in his life, he said.

But Kaunanidhi had declared total assets worth 26 crore while filing his nomination papers for the 2006 assembly elections. As the law requires that candidates should also include wealth in the names of their spouses, he had then included details of fixed deposits and bank accounts in the name of Dayalu and Rajathi, totally amounting to about 18 crore. [Total assets 44 Cr]

His elder son and Union chemicals and fertiliser minister M K Alagiri was worth 13 crore in 2009, covering both immovable and moveable property.
Younger son and Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister M K Stalin’s assets were
worth 13.61 crore in 2004 and sister Kanimozhi had assets worth 8.45 crore when she filed her nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections in 2007. Karunanidhis another daughter Selvi never declared her assets because she never filed any nomination for the elections.

Kalaignar also told that he was the only Chief Minister living in the street house.
To our remembrance Rajaji lived in a house in the Buzzullah street, T,Nagar and Kamaraj, Bakthavathchalam and Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi were living in others houses. Moreover to our knowledge that no previous chief minister’s sons were crorepathis in Tamil Nadu. The freedom fighters who have fought for the India’s Independence now eagerly standing in the queue for their monthly pensions.

Any how we appreciate Karunanidhi’s tireless service to his party and it is our wish that all people must follow the foot step of Kalaignar and work hard and come up in their carrier as Crorepathis.

Kindly hear the speeches of former Congress leader Dindivanam Ramamurthy thro; “You Tube”. Thanks to “Jaya TV”.

Vaiko says Raja quits only under PM’s pressure.

Vaiko says Raja quits only under PM’s pressure.

Unrelenting pressure from the Congress finally forced A Raja to resign as the telecom minister. The party’s stand was conveyed to the Tamil Nadu chief minister by Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee just after Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi decided to take a tough stand after a discussion with Manmohan Singh.

As Raja boarded a flight to Delhi at 6pm on Sunday [14-11-2010], A Raja continued to insist that there was no question of his resigning as IT and communications minister. But by the time he landed, it was a different story. Unrelenting pressure from the Congress on the eve of a crucial hearing in the Supreme Court and what promised to be another day of stormy protests in Parliament — forced DMK boss M Karunanidhi to get a reluctant Raja to finally resign.

“In order to avoid embarrassment to the government and maintain peace and harmony in Parliament, my leader M Karunanidhi has advised me to resign,” Raja told media persons after submitting his papers to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He asserted that this should not be interpreted as an acknowledgement of guilt, claimed his conscience was clear and aggressively defended his performance as minister.

November 14th 10pm DMK issues statement announcing Raja’s resignation. Says decision taken to ensure Parliament is not stalled 10.30pm Raja meets PM and resigns

MDMK general secretary Vaiko said the events that led to the resignation of Union minister A Raja showed that he had done so only under pressure from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The PM would have otherwise sacked him, Vaiko said in a statement here on Monday. The magnitude of the scam was such that Raja would not be the only beneficiary, he argued, and added that a joint parliamentary committee probe was necessary to expose and book all those who had shared the “booty”.
