Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on 14-3-2012 campaigned for her party candidate Muthuselvi at Sankarankoil.She announced 'power scarcity would be brought down gradually from June this year in the State. Ms Jayalalithaa categorically stated her government will put a 'full stop' for the present power crisis.

Efforts are being taken to expedite several power projects and priority has been given to power generation schemes. 'I have taken personal interest in solving the power crisis,' she said. MORE UNI GSM GM 1505 NNNN

Facing flak over the grim power situation in the state, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on 14-3-2012 Wednesday said the situation would improve from June with the completion of various projects leading to total capacity addition of 1950 MW.

Power plants in North Chennai, Vallur and Mettur were on the fast track and the government had taken efforts to ensure 1950 MW by June and another 600 MW by October, ensuring 2,550 MW of power by the year-end, she said.

“The power shortage will start declining from June. Our efforts to buy power during this period have proved futile following congestion in the transmission corridor,” she said about the issue which she had recently taken up with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Referring to reports about India planning to support Sri Lanka in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) against a U.S.-sponsored resolution against Colombo for alleged war crimes, she said “this is the concern of Congress towards Tamils.” The Chief Minister, who is on a tour of the constituency as part of her campaign schedule, recalled the various welfare measures being implemented by her government. The 13-kilometre long Marina Beach forms the city's east coast, from Fort St. George all the way to Mahabalipuram and is one of the longestand beautiful beaches in the world. The Marina Beach is a sandy beach and is the most sought-after beach for many. A visit to the Marina Beach is an enchanting experience for a traveller.

There are many statues adorn the roadside along the beach which includes statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Kannagi, Thiruvalluvar, Sir Thomas Munro, Kamarajar, Avvaiyar, Thanthai Periyar and the Statue of Labour. At one end of the beach is Anna Square where the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Dr. C.N.Annadurai was buried. Next to the Anna Sqaure is MGR Samathi and a beautiful park. This is a memorial for Dr.M.G. Ramachandran, the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu and also a former film hero. The tomb has an imposing memorial Pillar and an eternal flame.

The main road along the Marina is Kamarajar Salai. Many old and historic buildings adorn the side of the road opposite to the beach. The monumental buildings are Senate House of the University of Madras, Chepauk Palace (now P.W.D office), 19th century Presidency College building, Ezhilagam and the Director General of Police office. The beach has new artificial fountains and parks which adds to its beauty.

There is a swimming pool and an aquarium located opposite to the Presidency College which is a great attraction for tourists. The swimming pool is run by the State Government. The pool offers swimming classes at nominal charges. The aquarium has good collection of marine and fresh water fishes.

Marina beach is a major tourist attraction of the city. People visiting Chennai make a point to visit the beach. It is also the main place for the local people to escape from the summer heat. The beach is popular for its shops and food stalls run by about 500-odd vendors. The memorials and statues, morning walk, joggers' track, lovers' spot, aquarium, and the like make it a hangout for people of all ages. Kite flying and beach cricket are common sports at the beach, and there are also facilities for pony rides. The sea is generally rough and waves are strong. There are fishermen colonies present at both ends of the beach. There are also joyrides, merry-go-rounds and mini giant wheels along the stretch. Please see the Video.

Chennai Vigilance officials conducted searches at the residences of three former personal security officers of M Karunanidhi in the city on Friday 2-3-2012 as part of a probe into their purchase of Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) plots worth 75 lakh each in 2008, when the DMK president was chief minister.

The security officers DSP Pandian and inspectors C Ganesan and C Vinothan of the core security cell in the special branch-criminal investigation department (SBCID) — had purchased TNHB plots, each measuring two grounds (one ground is 2,400 sq ft), allotted in the Mogappair Eri Scheme under the government discretionary quota (GDQ), sources in the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC)said.

Pandian, who had applied for the TNHB plot in the name of his wife Meena, paid the sum as a one-time payment. Police sources said the three entered into separate ventureswithsomeother persons to buy the plots. While Meena was allottedthe plotfor her social service, the two inspectors availed themselves of the plots under the GDQ citing other reasons, sources said.

Three special teams, each led by a DVAC assistant commissioner of police, began the searches at the officers’ houses at 8am. “Wewent there to check how they managed to pay the huge amount with their earnings,” an officer said. Similar raids were conducted at the residence of a woman on GreenwaysRoadin Raja Annamalaipuram, who bought Ganesan’s plot for 1.90crore.

As the 100th year celebrations of the Dravidian movement begin, DMK chief M Karunanidhi has stirred emotions with some anti-Brahminical allusions. In an 11-page statement last week, the DMK patriarch, while urging his cadres to mark the occasion with celebrations, had quoted T M Nair, one of the founder leaders of the Dravidian movement, as saying that the Justice Party should prove its might to the Brahmins.

But his recollection of the plank on which the Dravidian movement was launched and urgings to partymen to talk about it at public meetings has caused some angst. A few organisations, in Chennai, including the Brahmin Association, have reacted strongly, condemning the “hurtful and unwarranted” remarks which they term an attempt to create “a scare” among the community. On Monday, at a meeting held in Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters, Karunanidhi, while reviving the old slogan of ‘Dravidanadu’, said there would be many successors to him who would protect the Dravidian ideology. “In future, there will be many like me who will work for the sake of Tamils and even attain the dream of Dravidanadu”, he said.

Urging the youth “to protect” the Dravidian movement, the DMK patriarch said, “We continue to receive threats to dilute our ideology. But youngsters should come forward to face the challenge”. Narrating an incident that happened during the British rule to make his point, Karunanidhi said, “In an election held in the early 1920s, many non-Brahmins won for the first time. In this centenary year the Dravidian movement should strive to bring back the glory of yesteryear.”

Besides Karunanidhi, DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan, Justice S Mohan, Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani, Tamil scholars M Nannan and Suba Veerapandian spoke on the occasion recalling the contributions of Dr Natesan, Sir Pitti Thiyakarayar and T M Nair, all founder leaders of the movement. A large number of partymen had also gathered for the event.

Congress party to note the intention of Karunanidhi to create caste war in Tamil Nadu. Karunanidhi also wants to sow poisonous partition seed in the land of Tamilnadu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has ordered distribution of free rice to below Poverty Line (BPL) families and gold to women, living up to one of her main poll promises. On her first day as chief minister, Jaya said 20 kg of free rice will be distributed every month to ration card holders and 35 kg to BPL families. Jayalalitha distributed Rice for Ration Card holders at Alwarpet, Chennai on 1-6-2011..Jaya also ordered distribution of gold for ‘magalsutras’ for women and also doubled marriage assistance to the poor from Rs. 25,000 to Rs 50,000.

Jayalalithaa was born on 24 February 1948. She was born in Melukote in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, Karnataka near city of Mysore While in Bangalore, Jayalalithaa attended Bishop Cotton Girls' High School She completed her childhood education at Sacred Heart Matriculation School (popularly known as Church Park Presentation Convent or Presentation Church Park Convent) in Chennai. She excelled at school and was offered a government scholarship to pursue further education. Jayalalithaa was brought into politics by a former Tamil movie star and state chief minister, M.G. Ramachandran, with whom she starred in many of her films.

Jayalalithaa entered Politics and became a Member in AIADMK, in 1982. Jayalalithaa's involvement in politics grew from her association with M. G. Ramachandran, who had founded the AIADMK and was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as well as an actor; In 1983 he made Jayalalithaa the party's Propaganda Secretary.In February 1983, she was chosen by Dr. M.G.R. to conduct her maiden election campaign for the AIADMK candidate in the bye-election to the Tiruchendur Assembly Constituency.

Leader Of Opposition:In 1989

She was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly in 1989 from Bodinayakkanur (State Assembly Constituency).In the Election AIADMK contested in two fractions. Jayalalithaa led fraction won 27 seats and Jayalalithaa became the first woman to be elected Leader of the Opposition. In 1989 her sari was pulled in the assembly by DMK minister Duraimurugan and another DMK Minister Veerapandi Arumugam hit her forehead with a mike. After that event, Jayalalithaa claimed Karunanidhi had no moral right to be CM and Jayalalithaa vowed that she would re-enter the assembly only as chief minister.

First Term as Chief Minister:In 1991

In 1991, following the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi just days before the elections, her alliance with the Indian National Congress enabled her to ride the wave of sympathy that gave the coalition victory. Re-elected to the assembly, she became the first elected female chief minister and the youngest ever chief minister of Tamil Nadu, serving the full tenure from 24 June 1991 to 12 May 1996.

Second Term as Chief Minister: Jayalalithaa again became Chief Minister in March 2002 once the Madras High Court had acquitted her in a couple of cases. This cleared the way for her to contest a mid-term poll to the Andipatti constituency, after the elected representative for the seat, gave up his membership. Winning the election by a handsome margin, In 2002 March Jayalalithaa took over the Chief Ministership again.

Third term as Chief Minister:In 2011

In April 2011 the AIADMK was part of a 13-party alliance that successfully won the 14th state assembly elections. Jayalalitha was sworn in as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu for the third time on 16 May 2011, having been elected unanimously as the leader of the AIADMK party subsequent to those elections.

In 1963 Tamil movie 'Karnan' a lot of effort was taken for the authenticity of the war scenes. The money involved was on a large scale. For the first time, a story from an epic was shot in opulent locations such as the palaces of Jaipur. Huge moving chariots were made in Chennai and transported to Kurukshetra, where the war sequences were filmed.Government permission was sought, and cavalry and infantry from the Indian Army were brought to the locations at Kurukshetra and the first rows of the charging armies on horses and elephants had soldiers from the Indian Army”

Every elderly people will still remember the war scene where in Karnan speaks to Krishna...Bheeshma in the arrow-bed etc. Nadikar Thilakam Shivaji is a great actor and the Andhra super star of those days, N.T.Rama Rao acted as Krishna in that movie. As everybody knows, Karna is a story in Mahabharata, our Hindu classic epic. 'Karnan', the 1963 Tamil Classic Movie - Unforgettable Movie! The music for the movie is by the famous M.S. Viswanathan and Ramamurthy duo.

The trailer launch of legendary Sivaji Ganesan`s restored digital version of epic movie Karnan was launched at Sathyam Cinemas on February 21. BR Panthulu`s Karnan will now be re-released in digital format soon.

At the launch director Cheran urged present day filmmakers not to use Sivaji Ganesan`s film titles for current films. Said Cheran: “I am an ardent fan of Sivaji Ganesan. Today,anyone can act in films irrespective of whether you have the talent or not. So by keeping the titles of thespian Sivaji Ganesan`s films, the present filmmakers are bringing disrespect to the legendary actor.”

Cheran challenged current filmmakers to remake a Sivaji Ganesan film. Added Cheran: “One can remake Billas and Maapillais, but it is impossible to remake Sivaji`s immortal Tamil classics.”

It is true that Nadikar Thilakam Sivaji Ganesan is a legend in acting and nobody can substitute him. He himself is a University of Acting and the young actors must devote their time in seeing his old pictures and learn the techniques of acting.

Enadinatha Nayanar was a Shanar (toddy tapper). He was born in Eyinanur in Chola Kingdom. It was situated to the south-east of Kumbakonam on the bank of the river Arisol. It was very fertile and rich.
The Shastras assure us that the Bhasma or sacred ash [Vibhoothi] is a divine healer. It cures all diseases, including the disease of birth and death, and bestows on the devotee who wears it, the highest wealth, viz., Moksha.
Such is the glory of the sacred ash: and, no wonder Enadiar worshipped whoever came to him with the ash on his forehead. Enadiar saw Lord Siva in him. He was ready to give even his own life at the feet of the devotee who wore the ash.

Enadinatha Nayanar was a very good swordsman. He was a tutor to the princes in fencing. He earned a good income from his profession. He spent all his income in the service of the Siva Bhaktas. He became very popular, too. This evoked the jealousy of another man belonging to the same profession, by name Atisuran. Contrary to his name (which means a great hero), he was not at all skilful and not strong either, because he was full of vices. Yet, he wanted to fight with Enadinathar and defeat him.
One day Atisuran marched towards Enadinathar’s house, with all his relatives, fully armed: he hoped to defeat Enadinathar, with the help of his relatives. He stood in front of Enadinathar’s house and challenged him to a fight—jackal coming to fight the lion. Enadinathar accepted the challenge and came forward to fight. Atisuran got frightened. He asked Enadinathar to come to the nearby grove to fight with him. The relatives of Atisuran were waiting in the grove. In the mean time, the friends of Enadinathar had also gathered around him. The two parties fell on each other, and in the terrible fight that ensued many lives were lost. Atisuran ran away from the grove. He wanted to kill Enadinathar, not in open fight (which was impossible), but by strategem.

The next day, he sent a message to Enadinathar: ‘Let us fight again, but without any assistance this time: otherwise, many innocent people die on our account. Let us go to a lonely place, without anyone’s knowledge and fight.’ Enadinathar accepted it. The next morning, Enadinathar went away secretly and was awaiting Atisuran’s arrival at the stipulated place. Atisuran, with the sacred ashes on his forehead (which was cleverly hidden by his shield) approached Enadinathar. Enadinathar pounced upon him, with a big roar. In a moment, Atisuran removed the shield, revealing the sacred ashes. Enadinathar quickly lowered his sword and thought: ‘what a sin I was about to commit! He has become a Siva Bhakta now. I must not harm him. Let him achieve his object of killing me.’ Endinathar wanted to throw the sword away, but kept it in his hand, else he would be compelling his opponent (a Siva Bhakta!) to incur the sin of killing an unarmed person. As he was mutely standing thus, Atisuran killed him.

Lord Siva was highly pleased with this self-sacrificing devotion that Enadinathar had for the ashes. He appeared before Enadinathar as he fell, and took him to His Abode.

"Maha-Sivaratri" is a Hindu festival observed on the night of the four¬teenth day of the dark half in the month of 'Magha', in Tamil 'Maasi', corresponding to the English months 'February—March', in honour of Siva, one of the Hindu Trinity, representing the destructive aspect in the universe.

There is also a myth emphasizing the importance of the worship of Siva during the Sivaratri night and it is in brief as follows:

Once there was a hunter, and he one day went into the forest to procure meat for his family by hunting some animal. He wandered up and down in the forest from morning till night in search of game but was unable to shoot any. At last, when night overtook him, he climbed up a Bael tree to escape from a wild animal that was pursuing him, being roused from its lair by the hunter. The animal was lying down at the foot of the tree quite certain that the man would fall down either from sleep or from exhaustion, and that he might eat him.

The hunter, exhausted as he was from his exertions and hunger, wished to scare away the animal by throwing handful of bael leaves. These leaves dripping with water on account of the recent shower fell on a Siva-Lingam that was near. The night happened to be the Maha-Sivaratri night. He had fasted during the whole day since he could not find anything to eat. The drenching rain constituted a bath and his action of throwing the bael leaves on the Siva-Lingam, the wor¬ship of Siva on the Sivaratri night. Though his actions were not intentional to worship Siva, yet he is said to have gained heaven as he had observed the Sivaratri - Vratha unwittingly.

The basic principle underlying the observance of the Maha-Sivaratri Vratha appears to be to emphasize the fact that death is sure to follow birth, night is sure to follow day, Pralaya, active cosmic life and so on, and consequently people should always bear in mind while enjoying the one its opposite and regulate their life accordingly. They should not be elated at success nor should they allow themselves to be carried away by despair at failures but always have trust in God and worship him.

Making her mandate clear to the state police, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday 15-2-2012 asked them to handle rioters, murderers and dacoits with an "iron fist". "You (police) should serve with responsibility and dedication. You should be a friend to those who respect law. At the same time, you should crush rioters, murderers and dacoits with an iron fist," Jayalalithaa said during the passing our parade ceremony for sub inspectors at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy in the city outskirts.

The passing out parade of the largest batch of sub-inspector trainees was held at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy in Oonamanchery on Wednesday15-2-2012. The batch of 1,061 underwent training of the level of IPS officers as National Police Academy (NPA) syllabus was introduced to sub-inspector trainees for the first time in the country.

Director General of police (Training) Letika Saran said the batch of 1,061 trainees consisted of 773 Taluk sub-inspectors (549 men and 224 women), 164 Armed Reserve (118 men and 48 women) and 122 Tamil Nadu Special Police sub-inspectors (87 men and 35 women). It included 256 postgraduates and 26 computer science graduates.

Tamil Nadu DGP K Ramanujam read out the oath and the function was presided over by chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The training in cyber crime investigation was sponsored by Nasscom and as many as 42 workshops were conducted.

Saran said the indoor training, spread over a year, aimed at imparting attitudes, skills and knowledge to prepare the trainees to be effective young leaders of the police service. Jayalalithaa presented medals for indoor, outdoor, firing and overall best trainee awards and the ‘Sword of Honour’ to officers of the Armed Reserve and Tamil Nadu Special Police.

Recalling her dream to set up a police training centre of international standards, Jayalalithaa said that she had already laid the foundation stone for the Academy in 2004 during her tenure as chief minister. She also expressed pride that lots of trainees were getting trained in the Academy.

The fight for supremacy in the DMK burst into the open once again with Union minister M K Alagiri declaring he was ready to lead the party. Alagiri’s remark comes two days after the party stopped his loyalist and former minister Veerapandi S Arumugam from conducting interviews of aspirants for posts in the party’s youth wing in Salem. A stern directive from the DMK headquarters asked Arumugam to cancel the interviews as party treasurer and Alagiri’s younger brother M K Stalin was already on the job.

Sources said Alagiri, who returned to Chennai late Tuesday 14-2-2012 from Malaysia, was upset over the statement issued by the party headquarters against Arumugam. When reporters asked him if he was willing to lead the party if given the responsibility, Alagiri, who was accompanied by wife Kanthi, shot back with a terse “Yes”.

Alagiri left for Madurai on Wednesday 15-2-2012 afternoon without meeting his father, DMK president M Karunanidhi. Sources close to him said he expressed his dissatisfaction about the party directive to the Salem district committee to his mother Dayalu Ammal.

In an attempt to put an end to the controversy and mollify the Madurai strongman, the DMK headquarters issued a statement saying that a section of the media was trying to create an impression that Alagiri was aspiring for the post of party chief. The statement also clarified that the directive to the Salem district committee, headed by Arumugam, was merely an advisory and not a warning. “It was not a caution as the media had reported,” the two-page statement said. The Arumugam camp, said sources, is elated with the ‘clarification’.

But the issue refused to die down with Stalin supporters demanding action against Arumugam for his “defiance”. The chorus in the Stalin camp for the succession issue to be settled once and for all is also gaining strength. “Arumugam is trying to create a rift between our leader (Karunanidhi) and Stalin. We suspect he has Alagiri’s backing,” said a former minister and close Stalin associate.

It is up to the party members, who have worked for the uplift of the DMK to decide, whether Stalin or Alagiri was fit to be the leader of their party.

Mahakavi Subramania Bharati is more sung than read. He is more a poet than a writer of prose. The general impression is that the Tamils wrote only poetry and not prose. Subramania Bharati wrote an unfinished novel, Chandirikaiyin Kathai, echoing the reformist views of Viresalingam Pantulu and G. Subramania Aiyar. Other than that, he wrote his musings on the Vedas, which he called Vachana Kavithai–Prose Poetry. This portion of Bharati’s writings deserves a closer look. The same has, not attracted the attention of scholars to the extent that it must have been.

He has written prose about Vayu and Rain. Vayu is one of the gods of the air. There are not many hymns on him. “The soul of gods, and of the world the offspring. After a fiery exchange of words between chief minister J Jayalalithaa and leader of opposition Vijayakanth in the Tamil Nadu assembly, around 1,000 DMDK functionaries and workers, including the actor-politician's close friend Ibrahim Rowther joined the ruling AIADMK on Tuesday 7-2-2012.

Rowther, was not only a close friend, was also a producer who was instrumental in promoting and producing many of Vijayakanth’s films. “The hope with which you have joined the AIADMK will not go waste,” was how Jayalalithaa greeted the new joiners and assured that the new members will help in strengthening the AIADMK. She distributed membership cards to the DMDK functionaries and workers. Among the joiners also include DMDK election wing secretary K Jagaveerapandian and medical wing secretary Dr Pari.

It may be recalled that Jayalalithaa in the Assembly last week had expressed regret for having aligned with the DMDK and termed Vijayakanth’s behaviour “obnoxious”. She had said that she was not inclined for an alliance for the April 2011 Assembly election, but gave in because of pressures from the party. His behaviour was referred to the Privilege Committee and subsequently Vijayakant was banned from the Assembly for 10 days, which will go on till the next session of the Assembly.

Speaking in the council, CM Sadananda Gowda even praised them: “I am happy about their conduct. I spoke to all three. They said they hadn’t committed any big mistake. They have resigned on their own. They said they wouldn’t want to continue till they come clean. This is honourable behaviour in democracy. They have set a good precedent.’’

Speaker K G Bopaiah announced in the assembly that the three had been debarred. But the very next minute, he adjourned the House sine die – two days before the scheduled end.

Karnataka cooperation minister Laxman Savadi cut off electricity to his constituency Athani on Tuesday and issued orders to block entry of newspapers into the town on Wednesday 8-2-2012 morning . While power was resumed late in the night, his supporters ensured that the local operator cut off cable feed.

Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathi was born on 11 December 1882. He died on 11 September 1921. In a relatively short life span of 39 years, Bharathi left an indelible mark as the poet of Tamil nationalism and Indian freedom.

His prowess as a poet was recognized and he was accorded the title of 'Bharathi' at Ettiyapuram. He was a student at Nellai Hindu School and in 1897 he married Sellamal. Thereafter, from 1898 to 1902, he lived in Kasi. Bharathi worked as a schoolteacher and as a journal editor at various times in his life. As a Tamil poet he ranked with Ilanko, Thiruvalluvar and Kamban. His writings gave new life to the Tamil language - and to Tamil national consciousness. He involved himself actively in the Indian freedom struggle. It is sometimes said of Bharathi that he was first an Indian and then a Tamil. Perhaps, it would be more correct to say that he was a Tamil and because he was a Tamil he was also an Indian. For him it was not either or but both - it was not possible for him to be one without also being the other. Bharathi often referred to Tamil as his 'mother'. At the same time, he was fluent in many languages including Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kuuch, and English and frequently translated works from other languages into Tamil. His said “among all the languages I have known, I do not see any of them”, any as sweet as Tamil, was his moving tribute to his mother tongue.

In the following poem, Bharathi employs the folk dance, kummi (கும்மி) and speaks out clearly the problems as he saw with women. It is surprising and indeed shameful that in a country where women were worshipped as the all powerful Sakthi(சக்தி), they were relegated to a lower status in social life.

Maha Kavi Bharathiyar was one of the earliest champions of women's cause in the Tamil Nadu region. Thanks to his outbursts, there had been a social awakening on this “Kummi” song, though much is yet to be done. Please hear the” Kummi” song thro my Video.

In his address to the members of the DMK’s General Council, Karunanidhi Reaffirming DMK’s support for a non-communal party for the nation’s development, party chief M Karunanidhi on 3-2-2012 indicated present ally Congress alone seemed to fit the bill and said he wanted to prevent BJP from coming to power at the Centre.

Claiming that some “Brahmin friends in Delhi” were working towards making his archrival and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa the next Prime Minister, the DMK patriarch said he was not bothered about this.“Let anyone become the Prime Minister. We want to bring it to the notice of Karunanidhi that the electoral alliance between DMK, Swatantra Party and Muslim League had emerged in the years before the 1964 civic elections throughout Madras state. During the 1964 election campaign and Brahmin Rajagopalachari had said, "The DMK and Muslim League are my children and I am duty bound to nurse them to strength and stature.

The fourth elections to the Madras Legislative assembly were held in February 1967. At the age of 88, Brahmin Rajaji worked to forge a united opposition to the Indian National Congress through a tripartite alliance between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Swatantra Party and the Forward Bloc. The Congress party was defeated in Madras for the first time in 30 years and the coalition led by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam came to power. C. N. Annadurai served as Chief Minister from March 6, 1967 till his death on February 3; 1969. Rajaji delivered a moving eulogy to Annadurai at his funeral. Navalar Nedunchelian who was next to Anna was overthrown by Karunanidhi and he becomes the Chief Minister.

Tamil Maanila Congress president Govindaswamy Karupaiah Moopanar has emerged as the favourite to succeed H D Deve Gowda as India's next prime minister. The 67-year-old former Congressman from Tamil Nadu was in the lead that time. Moopanar would most probably follow the example of Kamraj who strove to show the people of the state that he was a more Tamil (Pachchai Thamilan) than the leaders of the DMK who at that time were accusing him of serving northern masters.

In those days DMK criticised Congress leader Perunthalaivar Kamaraj and Backthavathsalam with undignified slogans. Now this Karunanidhi wants to continue his alliance with Congress. While several lakhs of Tamilians in Sri Lanka was mascared, he never protested against Congress Government, and he was only particular in safe guarding his family interest.

While giving thanks to Governor’s address Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on 3-2-2012 told the assembly that there was nothing wrong in mandating Tamil for students of classes I to X in the state, and there would not be any change in the policy. “All those who study in Tamil Nadu, irrespective of their mother tongue, will have to study Tamil and there is no change in it,” Jayalalithaa said. Citing the cases of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, where the local language has been made mandatory in schools, the chief minister said it was not wrong to implement the same in Tamil Nadu. “We will ensure that schools have adequate teachers to teach Tamil and vacancies filled up

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa also accused the Centre, particularly Union home minister P Chidambaram, for their “indifference” towards the state’s welfare. Intervening during a debate in the state assembly, the chief minister recalled the requests made by the state to the Centre, seeking funds to take up relief and rehabilitation in the cyclone-hit districts of Cuddalore and Villupuram. As there was no response from the centre, despite repeated requests, the state took initiatives on its own, Jayalalithaa said.

The Centre, she said, released funds on the day when the state government issued advertisements in newspapers, seeking donations from the public for the relief works in the cyclone-hit areas.

“I don’t know whether the Centre felt ashamed and announced Rs 500 crore for relief works,” she said, while reacting to the CPI floor leader M Arumugam who felt that the Centre’s allocation of Rs 500 crore against the state’s original demand of over Rs 5,000 crore only showed its lack of concern for the state.

Vowing to retrieve Katchatheevu islet ceded to Sri Lanka by the Indian government in 1974, chief minister J Jayalalithaa said this was the ultimate solution to protect the traditional fishing rights of Tamil fishermen in the Palk Bay area and ensure their safety and security. Defending her decision to hike bus fares in the state, Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa on Friday said her attempt was only to prevent transport corporations from closing down. “Only because of this step, we have been able to save transport corporations. So we are able to ply bus services. Otherwise (if not for the price hike), we would have been forced to close down transport corporations. All would have been bankrupt,” the chief minister said. Ms Jayalalithaa said as the people of the state were determined to pack off the 'corruption riddled' previous DMK regime and bring the AIADMK back to power, the AIADMK could have swept back to power, even without the support of the allies, including the DMDK.

As the people wanted a change of government, the AIADMK would have won the elections, even if it had fought the elections on its own, she claimed, adding the DMDK was lucky to have had an alliance with AIADMK and get 41 seats and win 29 of them.

In Chennai a woman who forced her daughter into the sex trade and a social worker were among three women arrested on Friday 27-1-2012 during raids conducted by the Anti-Vice Squad at two brothels in north Chennai. Five women rescued from the two brothels were later sent to the Government Home in Mylapore. All of them told police they had been forced into the trade.

Police said that acting on specific information that Usha Jain (47) and Jagadeeswari (48) were running a prostitution racket at Vinyagapuram in the Kolathur area, a special team from the Anti-Vice Squad went to the spot posing as customers and arrested the duo.

A police officer first approached one of the women who demanded Rs 5,000 for “services” at the house. After confirming that prostitution was being carried out there, the officer alerted other members of the team who were waiting outside. They barged in and arrested the two women pimps and rescued four girls. One of the rescued girls was identified as the daughter of Usha Jain. Both mother and daughter had been abandoned by their husbands, police said.

In another operation at Kolathur at Chennai, police arrested 37-year-old Vela alias Velankanni, who claimed to be a social worker in Korukkupet, and rescued a girl from her house.

Usha Jain, Jagadeeswari and Velankanni were produced before a metropolitan magistrate’s court in Saidapet before being remanded in judicial custody at the Puzhal prison.

The inquiry with Dr Rani lasted about 90 minutes during which it was learnt she leveled several charges against Mr Paranjothi and also filed a detailed report with related evidenciary documents with Mr Veerasamy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sri Rangam and Investigation Officer in the case.

Paranjothi recently came to Trichy to a private school and he ordered to Asst Commissioner Veerachamy to find out the Children missing from the school.

A police team on Saturday initiated an enquiry against Sasikala’s brother Divakaran following a complaint alleging demolition of group houses lodged by a woman Kasthuri (31), wife of Balasubramanian of Rishiyur, Needamangalam.

The complaint lodged with Tiruvarur Superintendent of Police Xavier Dhanaraj this morning, stated that the group house in which she was living was demolished on November 28, 2011, by a group of six persons headed by Krishna Menon, panchayat president of Rishiyur under the instruction of Divakaran. The group also demolished the group house where her father-in-law Manickam lived. The group house was given to Kasthuri’s family during previous DMK regime.

Kasthuri’s husband Balasubramanian, a driver, was working for the DMK during the previous elections. Based on Kasthuri’s complaint, an investigation had been launched on instructions from the Superintendent of Police.

In Chennai Police on Friday20-1-2012 arrested a Delhi-based man who was operating a flesh trade racket from star hotels in T Nagar and rescued a woman from Kolkata.In another raid at a hotel on GNChetty Road, police arrested a man from Kerala and rescued a woman from Kolkata. The arrested were remanded in judicial custody while the women were sent to a government home in Mylapore.

A police decoy sent to a hotel in TNagar metthe pimp,Jithendra Bhandari, 32, who introduced him to a young woman. And asked him to pay 25,000 for ‘service’ for an hour. The decoy gave Bhandari the money, went to the room and alerted police waiting outside. The police team nabbed Bandari and rescued the 20-year-old girl.

During questioning, police found that Bhandari often visited the hotel on “business” and booked two rooms in his name on the same floor. He flew in women from other states after keeping in touch with racketeers in those states.

“Bandari brought the woman from Kolkata after paying a hefty amount to a racketeer. The woman came here only a couple of days ago,” a police officer said.

In a raid at another hotel in T Nagar, police arrested a pimp, Shanaas, 26, of Kerala, and rescued a 20-year-old woman who was also from Kolkata. Shanaas also charged his customers 25,000, police learnt.

Police said atleast40% of the women in the sex trade in the city is from Kolkata, 20% from Andhra Pradesh, 5-10% from Mumbai and Delhi and 5-10% from Tamil Nadu. A huge amount of money is involved and women from all walks of life were in the trade, they said.

Lured by dreams of riches and luxurious lives, even housewives and college students are voluntarily getting into the trade, the sources said. There is a proverb in Tamil “a good family is a good University”. All family people must remember that golden word.

The excavations so far give ample traces that there was a mammoth pre-existing structure beneath the three-domed Babri structure. Ancient perimeters from East to West and North to South have been found beneath the Babri fabrication. The bricks used in these perimeters predate the time of Babur. Beautiful stone pieces bearing carved Hindu ornamentations like lotus, Kaustubh jewel, alligator facade, etc., have been used in these walls. These decorated architectural pieces have been anchored with precision at varied places in the walls. A tiny portion of a stone slab is sticking out at a place below 20 feet in one of the pits. The rest of the slab lies covered in the wall. The projecting portion bears a five-letter Dev Nagari inscription that turns out to be a Hindu name. The items found below 20 feet should be at least 1,500 years old. According to archaeologists about a foot of loam layer gathers on topsoil every hundred years. Primary clay was not found even up to a depth of 30 feet. It provides the clue to the existence of some structure or the other at that place during the last 2,500 years.

More than 30 pillar bases have been found at equal spans. The pillar-bases are in two rows and the rows are parallel. The pillar-base rows are in North-South direction. A wall is superimposed upon another wall. At least three layers of the floor are visible. An octagonal holy fireplace (Yagna Kund) has been found. These facts prove the enormity of the pre-existing structure. Surkhii has been used as a construction material in our country since over 2000 years and in the constructions at the Janma Bhumi Surkhii has been extensively used. Molded bricks of round and other shapes and sizes were neither in vogue during the middle ages nor are in use today. It was in vogue only 2,000 years ago. Many ornate pieces of touchstone (Kasauti stone) pillars have been found in the excavation. Terracotta idols of divine fugurines, serpent, elephant, horse-rider, saints, etc., have been found.

Even to this day terracotta idols are used in worship during Diwali celebrations and then put by temple sanctums for invoking divine blessings. The Gupta and the Kushan period bricks have been found. Brick walls of the Gahadwal period (12th Century CE) have been found in excavations.

Archeological Society of India Says Temple Existed at Ramjanmabhoomi Site The excavation gives out the picture of a vast compound housing a sole distinguished and greatly celebrated structure used for divine purposes and not that of a colony or Mohalla consisting of small houses. That was an uncommon and highly celebrated place and not a place of habitation for the common people. Hindu pilgrims have always been visiting that place for thousands of years. Even today there are temples around that place and the items found in the excavations point to the existence of a holy structure of North Indian architectural style at that place.

Abhirami is the Goddess of Thirukadayur near MayiladuThurai town of Tamil Nadu.
Abhirami means “She who is attractive every moment of time”. This goddess is believed to be extremely powerful and fulfills the wishes of all her devotees. He is famed as the author of a collection of hymns called Abhirami Anthadhi which is widely regarded as one of the foremost works of modern Tamil literature.

As he grew Subramaniya Iyer developed a fanatical devotion to Goddess Abhirami. Abirami Pattar who was a Sri Vidya Upasaka.He would sit in a corner of the temple meditating upon the Goddess and singing her praises. As time passed, he was forever immersed in meditation upon the Goddess that he began to observe the supposed likeliness of the Goddess in the persona of the women around him and often showered them with flowers. According to sources, soon, a particular section of the populace began to regard him as a madman He was always under the influence of the graceful Abirami, thinking of the radiance of her face as a full moon And He was a engaged in telling people the details of the day as to Thithi, day, time effects etc.

One day, Raja Serfoji, the Maratha Raja of Thanjavur who ruled over the land, visited the temple to pay homage to Lord Shiva. On noticing the peculiar behavior of Subramaniya Iyer who was a temple priest, he inquired the other priests about the individual. One of them remarked that he was a madman while another rejected this categorization explaining to the king that he was only an ardent devotee of Goddess Abhirami. Those who were jealous of him gave false reports to King Saraboji and induced him to test Pattar. King Saraboji and induced him to test Pattar. As Pattar was an almanac pundit, the king asked him about the day and pat came the reply from Pattar that it was full moon that day while it was the new moon day. , King approached the priest and asked him what day of the month it was i.e. whether it was a full-moon day or a new-moon day. Subramaniya Iyer who could see nothing else but the shining luminant form of the Goddess before him wrongly answered that it was a full-moon day while it was in fact a new-moon day.

When King repeated the question, he still replied the same answer as Full Moon day. King Saraboji told Pattar that he would be beheaded if the full moon did not appear at night.

Abirami Pattar realized his statement and put the blame on Goddess. He said to her that I made this mistake only because of you as I was immersed in your thoughts. Immediately realizing his mistake, Subramaniya Iyer supposedly lit a huge fire and erected a platform over it supported by a hundred ropes. He sat upon the platform and prayed to the Goddess Abhirami to save him. He started singing about the Goddess Abiraami in 100 slokas, so beautifully sung. The songs come under a class of Tamil poetry called "Andhaathi". This means, the next poem should start with the ending from the previous one.

Abirami, Pattar grew fire before the temple, erected a cradle above the fire and tied with 100 ropes. He sat on the cradle above the fire, and cut one rope each time he completed a hymn on Mother Abiramai. He cut off one rope after another in succession on completion of each verse of his prayer. On completion of the 79th hymn, Goddess Abirami pleased and appeared before him and thrown her ear-ring (kundalam) in to the sky which enlightened the whole sky like a full bright moon.

As for students’ reactions, they range from bizarre to being okay with this desire of the parents-to-be. When a boy is born to a family of overachievers, there is always the most important question of whether he is going to make it to IIT. Amrutash Misra, IIT-M 2008 batch thinks the idea is highly ridiculous. “Some of the smartest and most successful people I know are not IITians. Dr Kamala Selvaraj, one of the top infertility specialists in the country, thinks that the idea is completely absurd. “Intelligence comes with the genes. It does not depend on whether they studied in IIT or not. It is known that 60 per cent of one’s genetic make up depends on the parental genes and the rest of the 40 per cent depends upon the individual’s personal faculties.” She explains how such belief crop out of sheer ignorance. “The parents mentioned here are not aware of what genetics is or how this entire process works even! My surprise is that how can the man and the woman here, agree to the same fact that a sperm donor from IIT would do good to them.” But she agrees with the fact that couples look out for sperm donors who are educated, no doubt, but being in a prestigious college is not a criterion. “We believe in matching the blood groups of the biological parents. Leone’s appearance on ‘Bigg Boss’ has been a subject of controversy for quite some time. BCCC had recently directed that Leone should not use the show to promote her pornography business. A national executive member of the BJP and former treasurer of the party, Nambiar was the son of veteran Tamil actor M N Nambiar, a long-time friend of former chief minister M G Ramachandran and the present chief minister J Jayalalithaa. He had unsuccessfully contested from North Chennai constituency in the 2004 general elections, losing to DMK rival C Kuppuswamy.

Supporters of the ruling AIADMK on 7-1-2012 ransacked the office of Tamil bi-weekly Magazine 'Nakkeeran' in the city and burnt its copies across Tamil Nadu to condemn an article published by it allegedly defaming Party Supreme and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

During DMK rule The attack on the Dinakaran office allegedly by Alagiri’s supporters happened after the daily published a survey that said Dayanidhi Maran – son of late Murasoli Maran and a nephew of Karunanidhi – ranked ahead of Alagiri, the DMK’s strongman from Madurai, in popularity. Dinakaran employees Vinoth, Gopi and Muthupandi died when the Dinakaran office was burnt. The incident was recorded on video by several news channels.

At first, the acts of AIADMK’s men who attacked the Nakkheeran’s office in Chennai are condemnable. At the same time, we should see that such magazines are in the habit of publishing these articles for mere publicity. Nakkeeran is one of such magazines. In the name of democracy of express, such writings cannot be accepted. People are not interested what the menu of Ms. Jayalalithaa is and it is a private affair.

Meanwhile, AIADMK's organising secretary and former minister C. Ponnaiyan, in a statement issued here, condemned the magazine's publishers and the editor, saying the article was published to tarnish the image of Jayalalithaa. He said AIADMK founder M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) had never said that Jayalalithaa is a beef eater. Ponnaiyan said both MGR and Jayalalithaa were not beef eaters. "Legal action will be taken against the owner, publisher and the editor of the magazine for publishing such a false article," .

Condemning the attack on the magazine office, DMK president M. Karunanidhi said in a statement that such attacks were not acceptable in a democratic country. Karunanidhi comment is like Satan preaches bible. What was Karunanidhi doing when Dinakaran office was attacked and workers killed during his regime? What was he doing when years ago the Tamil daily Dinamalar, Alai osai and Tharasu Magazine were attacked? Whether he forgotten those days?

Magazines should not misuse the freedom of the Press. Let Nakkeeran support Karunanidhi, but Gopal should not defame his opponent for extraneous reasons. Karunanidhi must also think what was happened in his regime for the Magazines like Dinakaran, Dinamalar and Alai Osai is now repeating for his mouth piece. Reap what you sow.

The video Music by S.J.Stalin appears to be primarily targeted at Dhanush. His mix of English and Tamil in the Kolaveri song has proved immensely popular with over 30 million hits on you tube. Stalin considers his song a war on the Tamil language and describes his attitude toward it as bloodlust. He wonders why Dhanush chooses to use English – he asks why Tamil is scarce in its heartland, Tamil Nadu. He seems to imply that if Tamil gave sufficient creative freedom for Kamban, Valluvar and Bharathi it should be enough for Dhanush. Stalin thinks that Dhanush doesn’t give Tamil the respect that it deserves. As an ancient language, one which Stalin describes as predating the creation of stones and sand, Tamil has a rich literature and culture and Dhanush appears to ignore this and consider Tamil lacking. This is brought out by the poignant contrast between the focus on the keyboard in Dhanush’s work as opposed to the harmonium, perceived to be a more indigenous instrument, in Stalin’s video.

The politics does not end there. The opening scene highlights an official government signboard, at the entrance of Jaffna, which has Singhalese at the top and an indigenous signboard where Tamil is above Singhalese. This juxtaposition highlights the vulnerability of Tamil and the divergence of official and popular sentiments toward language policy in the North. The continuous flow of buses from the South into Jaffna must demonstrate a concern with the increasing settlement of people from the South. The police board in the corner (again Singhalese top, Tamil bottom) takes the mind down an associative track that ends in colonisation and cantonments. Another associative track is set in motion by the constant reference to bloodlust, intermingled with references to Ahimsa (non-violence) and revolutionary zeal – we all know where it leads.

It also highlights the threat to Tamil from within. After years of persecution some Tamils have chosen to hide or disassociate from their Tamil identities – especially in the metropolis of Colombo. The victory of the Sri Lankan Army and the present occupation of sorts constantly remind Tamils that they are second-class citizens. Stalin’s video is an exhortation for Tamil’s to embrace their culture; hence his parting cry to the Tamil is, “keep your head high”.

In 1972, DMK leader Karunanithi started to project his first son in a big way in film industry and also in politics. Understanding the tactics played by Karunanithi to corner him, MGR started to claim that corruption had grown within the party after the demise of Annadurai and in a public meeting asked for the financial details of the party to be publicised which enraged the leadership of DMK. Consequently, as expected, MGR was expelled from the party, and floated a new party named Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK), later renamed All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the only powerful opponent of the DMK.He mobilized the period between 1972-1977 to spread and preach his party ambition with films like Netru Indru Naalai(1974), Idhayakani(1975) etc..,.

He became Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on the 30th of July 1977, remaining in office till his death in 1987. The AIADMK won every state assembly election as long as MGR was alive. Although Anna Durai as well as Karunanidhi had acted in stage plays in trivial roles, in their younger days, before becoming chief minister, MGR was the first popular film actor to be a Chief Minister in India.Though the Congress won by a small margin of votes with the DMK in the 1980 parliamentary elections, the AIADMK under MGR won the state elections the same year. This made the Congress to ally with the AIADMK in the 1984 elections.

Once he became Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he placed great emphasis on social development, especially education. One of his most successful policies was the introduction of the "Mid-day Meal Scheme" introduced by the popular Congress Chief Minister and Kingmaker K Kamaraj to a nutritious Mid-day Meal Scheme in the Government-run and aided schools in Tamil Nadu. He also introduced Women's Special buses.

He introduced Liquor ban in the state and Preservation of old temples and historical monuments, ultimately increasing the state's tourist income. He set up a free school for the Cinema Technicians children in Kodambakkam called MGR Primary & Higher Secondary School which provided Free Mid-Day meals in the 1950s. He led the ADMK to victory in the 1984 assembly elections despite not taking part in the campaigning. At that time he was undergoing medical treatment in America and his images were broadcast in Tamil Nadu through cinema halls. This was an effective campaign and ADMK won the elections, indicating the depth of his popular support.

He won the election in a double landslide victory in 1984.He still holds the record of being the chief minister with the highest consistent longevity of more than a decade.MGR in every way of his rule followed Arignar Anna and established that he was the Heart Fruit [Idhayakkani] of Arignar Anna.

Addressing the general council meeting of the party, at Dharmapuri on 27-12-2011 PMK leader Ramadoss said he was confident that the PMK would emerge the ruling party of Tamil Nadu after the 2016 Assembly elections.

He said the PMK was caught in the “people's fury” against the DMK because it preferred to sail with it in the 2011 Assembly election and it was “by default” the AIADMK had become the ruling party.

Ramadoss told, “Personally, I feel the defeat provided us an opportunity to introspect. If tsunami was turned into an opportunity for development of fishermen, our defeat can also be converted into an opportunity to strengthen the party structure,” he added.

In Salem on 28-12-2011 in the General Council meeting of PMK Prof. Selvakumar told that we will issue a bit-notice and it must be spread to all PMK villages by our Party members and if any one read it and if he is born to real Vanniar he will definitely join with our Party.

Without any basic principles no party can win in any elections. Let us hope that PMk leader Ramadoss may get thumbing majority with his present formula for gaining in elections 2016.

AIADMK supremo and chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday 30-12-2011 said there was no question of readmitting her erstwhile close associate Sasikalaa Natarajan and her relatives, back to the party.

Jayalalithaa’s remarks came at the AIADMK executive and general council meetings held close to her meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his recent two-day visit to Tamil Nadu. Significantly she did not launch any attack on the Prime Minister and none of the 25 resolutions passed at the AIADMK’s high-level meetings made any reference to Kudankulam nuclear power project that the state wants to go slow on till public fears over safety are allayed.

The resolutions among other things, reaffirmed faith in the leadership of Jayalalithaa, criticized the Centre for not allocating additional funds to Tamil Nadu and demanded that the UPA government publish the Cauvery Water Tribunal’s award in the government gazette.

Strongly indicating that there will not be any rapprochement with Sasikalaa, Jayalalithaa denounced some of the expelled people for indulging in a propaganda that they will gain re-entry into the party with their clout “They are also threatening some of the cadres that they would take revenge after coming back to the party if they develop enmity against them. There will be no pardon for such people,” Jayalalithaa said reiterating her warning to the cadres to “keep away from the betrayers”. Those who listen to the betrayers would not be excused, she added.

Jayalalithaa made a distinction between the party members. “Some partymen commit mistakes and crimes and hence on disciplinary grounds they are thrown out of the party. Once out of the party, a few realize their mistakes and quit politics satisfied with what they have. A few others join another party. There is nothing wrong in that. But some others who have been thrown out of the party for betrayal are in touch with our party and threatening partymen,” she pointed out alluding to Sasikalaa and her family members.

A party source said all the speakers at the general council meeting reaffirmed their loyalty and indirectly attacked the sacked people. “A state minister said that Amma had created Vinayaka idol using cow dung and we all offered pooja. But now, after she discarded the idol, it was only cow dung,” Almost all the members attended the meet.

Jayalalithaa gave guidelines to the general council members. “The government should be corruptionfree and partymen should lead a simple and honest life. You should be approachable to the cadres and the people. You should avoid grandeur. Only then unlike DMK, we can have a clean government and sustain power,” she noted.

Jayalalithaa cautioned that the “mistakes and betrayals committed by us will spoil our sleep and our conscience will kill us. Hence we should not indulge in any such act. Only then the party will rise to greater heights. Only clean administration will ensure the sustainability of the party.”

During 1949, when Rajaji was Governor General, Periar met him at Tiruvannamalai along with Maniammai and discussed with him for one hour. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who is also the general secretary, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, expelled her close aide Sasikala, her husband Natarajan and 12 of their close relatives from the party’s primary membership An AIADMKrelease issued by Jayalalithaa said Sasikala, her husband Natarajan, relatives Ravanan, M Ramachandran, Kulothungan, Divakaran, Dinakaran, Bhaskaran, Sudhakaran, S Venkatesh, Adyar Mohan, Mahadevan and Thankamani have been expelled from the party.

Mannargudi in Tanjavur district is Sasikala’s village. She belongs to the Thevar community. Sasikala is the daughter of Tiruthuraipoondi Chandra Sekaran Pillai, who was having a medical shop in those days.

Jayalalithaa has asked her party cadre not to have any dealings with the expelled members. But Rama Ramanathan, a senior AIADMK functionary, said there was nothing surprising in the expulsion of Sasikala and others from the party.“Amma is the supreme authority in the AIADMK and the entire cadre stand by her because we know that whatever she does is for the good of the party as well as Tamil Nadu,” Ramanathan.

Brahmarshi Vishvamitra (Sanskrit विश्वामित्र viśvā-mitra "all-friend") is one of the most venerated rishi's or sages of ancient times in India. He is also credited as the author of most of Mandala 3 of the Rigveda, including the revered great Gayatri Mantra. It is a mantra cum prayer and is found in all the three Vedas; Rig, Yajur and Sama Veda. Veda's clearly state that anyone can chant this Mantra, and gain its benefits. The Puranas mention that only 24 Rishis since antiquity have understood the whole meaning of, and thus wielded the whole power of, the Gayatri Mantra. Sage Vishvamitra is supposed to be the first and Sage Yajnavalkya the last.

Gayatri is said to be the Mother (origin) of the Vedas. The scriptures describe that the commentary of the four segments of the Gayatri Mantra through the four mouths of Lord Brahma has been compiled into four Vedas as indicated below:

In a move to blunt Anna Hazare's third phase of campaign against corruption, the Union Cabinet cleared the Lokpal Bill on Tuesday 20-12-2011 night.

The Lokpal Bill draft has been cleared by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday. The government has decided that the CBI will not be under the Lokpal but the Prime Minister will come under its ambit with riders. Sources said that the bill will be tabled in the Parliament as early as on December 22.

Sources also say that the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition, CJI will choose the CBI chief. The Lokpal will have no say in the matter. According to sources, the government has proposed in the draft that the the Lokpal selection committee will comprise of the Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Chief Justice of India and a government-nominated jurist.

According to the proposal, Lokpal will be an eight-member body and former CJI or SC judge or an eminent person will be Lokpal Chairman.

Lokpal will have constitutional status but will have no control over CBI but brings within its purview the Prime Minister with a number of safeguards.

The bill will be introduced in Lok Sabha on Thursday 22-12-2011 and the existing one, introduced in August, would be withdrawn. The bill provides for the Prime Minister to be brought under the purview of the Lokpal with certain safeguards that keep out aspects like international relations, public order, atomic energy, space, internal and external security from inquiry.

Probe on any complaint against the Prime Minister will be decided by the full bench, of which at least three-fourth should agree. The probe wills in-camera and if a complaint is dismissed, the records on it should not be made public.

Though the Lokpal will have no control over CBI, a demand strongly pursued by Anna Hazare, an important provision has been added under which the CBI Director will be selected by a committee of the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Chief Justice of India or a Supreme Court judge, sources said.

Another major demand of the Team Anna which has not been accepted relates to inclusion of Group 'C' employees under the Lokpal. They will be out of direct ambit of Lokpal but under the supervision of CVC, which will have to report to the Lokpal. The Lokpal will have superintendence over the cases referred to CBI by the anti-graft ombudsman. The watchdog will have the powers to carry out preliminary inquiry to be headed by a Director of Inquiry and will have a prosecution wing under a Director.

The Lokpal cannot initiate any inquiry suo motu and a complaint will be required.
The Inquiry Wing will be headed by a Director for preliminary inquiry. The Lokpal can also ask the CBI to conduct the preliminary inquiry, which should be completed within 180 days. Ideally, the preliminary inquiry should be completed within 90 days and extension if necessary should be sought in writing.

In the cases referred to the CBI, the investigating agency will submit report to Lokpal. At least three members of the Lokpal Bench will go through the report to decide whether to file a chargesheet or a closure report or to recommend a departmental inquiry. If a chargesheet is filed, the prosecution wing of Lokpal will initiate proceedings in a special court. No sanction or approval of any authority will be required under directions of Lokpal. Departing from the original bill, the government has now proposed 50 per cent reservation for SC/ST, OBCs, Minorities and Women in the Lokpal bench and in the search committee.

Half of the bench would be members from judicial background. It will have a five-year term and its chairman or a member can be impeached only after at least 100 MPs make a representation.

We have to wait and see, how many politicians and Govt officials are going to be reformed by the Lok Pal Bill.

Andal is the most popular among the Azhwars. All of us know the story of Andal well.
In Periyaazhwar’s garden, in a Tulsi plant, in the Tamil month of Aadi, valarpirai, chathurdasi thithi, Tuesday, Pooram star, Andal was born. Andal is the amsam of Bhoomidevi.

Periyaazhwar saw the baby in his garden, named her Kothai and brought her up as his own daughter. Periyaazhwar was doing his service of making floral garlands for the Lord of Srivilliputhur. Kothai loved to imagine the Lord as the one who would marry her. Hence, she used to take the garland prepared by her father and wear it everyday and admire herself in the mirror before removing it and placing it in the basket to be taken to the temple.

Periyaazhwar was quite unaware of this daily exercise and used to take the same garland to the temple and decorate the Lord there. It was always accepted by God. One day, quite by chance, Periyaazhwar saw Kothai wearing the garland and was angry. He scolded her for the same and refused to take the used garland to God.

The Lord came in Periyaazhwar’s dream and made him understand that He liked the garland worn by Kothai. Periyaazhwar understood that Kothai was an avatar and named her “Andal” and “Soodikodutha Nachiaar”

Some more years passed and Andal yearned for the Lord and sang Thiruppavai and Nachiaar Thirumozhi in his praise. As a father, Periyaazhwar tried talking to Andal about marriage and Andal made it clear that she will not get married to an ordinary man as she belonged to the Lord. She asked Periayaazhwar detail on the Lords in the 108 divya desams. She was thrilled to hear about the Lord of Mathura, smiled when she heard about Tirupathi Perumal, happy to hear about the beauty of the Lord in Thirumaliruncholai, but she was ecstatic when she heard about Thiruvarangan. She chose Thiruvarangan as her husband and was always thinking about him.

Periyaazhwar wondered how Andal can get married to Perumal and Thiruvarangan came in his dream and instructed him to bring Andal to his temple so that he can accept her. Thiruvarangan also came in the dream of the temple priest and instructed him to go to Srivilliputhur with all the things needed to welcome a bride and bring Kothai. He also came in the dream of the Pandya king Vallabadevan and instructed him to bring Kothai in a pearl palanquin to Srirangam.

Pandya king arranged to decorate the path from Srivilliputhur to Srirangam and met Periyaazhwar to explain about his dream. Delighted by the Lord’s karunai, Periyaazhwar arranged for sacred water to be brought from different rivers and Kothai was bathed with this water, dressed up in new clothes and was made to sit in the pearl palanquin. The whole town followed the palanquin on foot. As the procession moved, people praised Andal. The palanquin reached the Srirangam temple entrance, then the front mandapam and then Kothai reached the Lord’s sannidhi. She was drawn to him like a magnet. She went near the Lord, climbed on the serpent bed and became one with Him.

As Periyaazhwar, Pandya King and others were amazed by this, the Lord said to Periyaazhwar that he had become his father-in-law like Samudrarajan and blessed him. He also instructed him to continue his service at Srivilliputhur.

In reshuffle of Tamil Nadu Government cabinet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa on 9-12-2011 inducted two ministers and dropped two.

According to a statement from Governor K. Rosaiah's office, the two new ministers and their portfolios are: M.S.M. Anandan, who gets charge of Hindu religious and charitable endowments, and B.Valarmathi, who gets social welfare.

The two ministers who make their exit from the cabinet are: M. Paranjothi, who was Hindu religious and charitable endowments, law, courts and prisons minister, and Selvi Ramajayam, who held social welfare.

Paranjothi who was Inducted into the cabinet only last month, resigned owing to personal reasons. It is stated that he tendered his resignation after a case was registered against him by the Trichy police on charges of cheating a woman doctor. He entered the state assembly winning the Tiruchirapalli (West) by-election this October. Minister Selvi Ramajayam was dropped from the cabinet due to alleged inefficiency. The portfolios of Tamil official language and Tamil culture, law, courts and prisons, personnel, and administrative reforms and prevention of corruption held by Paranjothi have now been allotted to C. Ve. Shanmugam, minister for school education, sports and youth welfare.

Eripatha Nayanar was born in Karuvur, one of the main cities of the Chola Kingdom.. Eripatha Nayanar was daily worshipping Lord Pasupatheesvarar with great faith and devotion. His one aim in life was to serve Siva Bhaktas and to offer them every kind of protection. He always carried a weapon, an axe, for this purpose. With the axe he would punish anyone trying to harm Siva Bhaktas.

In that city, there lived a Siva Bhakta by name Sivakami Andar. He was very regular in his daily worship of Lord Siva. Early morning would find him in the garden after bath, collecting flowers, making garlands for taking to the temple and offering to the Lord. This was his routine.

On a Maha Navami day when all the people were jubilant, Sivakami Andar was rushing to the temple, as usual, with a basket of flowers. At the same time, the king’s pet elephant was returning from the river, after its bath. On its back were two Mahouts, and three others were escorting it. Suddenly, it went mad and was chasing the people. They were running here and there. It ran towards Sivakami Andar. It caught hold of him, wrenched the basket of flowers from him, threw it on the ground and ran away. The flowers were all scattered on the ground. Sivakami Andar was greatly upset. The elephant had destroyed the flowers he had kept for the worship of the Lord. He chased the elephant. He was very aged and soon fell down exhausted. He was weeping bitterly, crying aloud: ‘Sivada, Sivada’ (a cry expressing agony). Eripatha Nayanar happened to pass that way. He heard Sivakami Andar’s pitiable cry and the cause of it. ‘Where is that elephant?’ asked Eripathar and began to run in the direction indicated by Sivakami Andar. Soon he overtook the elephant and hurled his powerful axe, killing it with one stroke. Then he pounced on the Mahouts and killed them, too.

The news of the elephant’s fate reached the king who immediately reached the spot on his horse, surrounded by his soldiers. He could not see who had killed the elephant, for, he could not associate the Siva Yogi Eripathar with such an act. He began to shout: ‘Who killed my elephant?’ When someone pointed to Eripathar, immediately the king’s wrath vanished, for he knew that if the Siva Yogi had done so, there should have been a very valid reason for it. ‘He must have killed it in self-defence,’ thought the king and felt happy that the elephant had done no harm to the Siva Yogi. He addressed Eripathar: ‘Oh Swamin, I did not know that you killed the elephant. Definitely, the elephant and the Mahouts must have done some harm to you and you rightly punished them.’ He fell at the feet of Eripathar and said: ‘O Swamin, for what they have done, the punishment awarded by you is not enough. I have committed a great crime by keeping such an elephant and such Mahouts. Now, I do not deserve a death through your holy weapon, the axe. Here is my own sword. Please be gracious enough to cut off my head with it.’

Eripathar felt that he was the cause for the king’s affliction, and in self-punishment, he began to cut his own throat. The king was alarmed. He thought that he would now be guilty of another offence and at once gripped the sword and stopped Eripathar from cutting his own throat.

The Lord’s voice was heard in the sky: ‘Oh noble souls! This is Lord Pasupatheesvarar’s Lila. It is His wish that His Bhakta’s sincere and faithful service to Him must be recognized by the world.’ Immediately, the elephants and the Mahouts got up, as from sleep. Sivakami Andar’s flower basket was full. Eripathar continued to serve Siva Bhaktas. Finally he cast off his mortal coil and reached the Abode of Lord Siva.

An Islamic cleric residing in Europe said that women should not be close to bananas or cucumbers, in order to avoid any “sexual thoughts.” This was published in Times of India news paper dated 9-12-2011.

The unnamed sheikh, who was featured in an article on” el-Senousa” news, was quoted saying that if women wish to eat these food items, a third party, preferably a male related to them such as their a father or husband, should cut the items into small pieces and serve.

He said that these fruits and vegetables “resemble the male penis” and hence could arouse women or “make them think of sex.” He also added carrots and zucchini to the list of forbidden foods for women.

The sheikh was asked how to “control” women when they are out shopping for groceries and if holding these items at the market would be bad for them. The cleric answered saying this matter is between them and God. Answering another question about what to do if women in the family like these foods, the sheikh advised the interviewer to take the food and cut it for them in a hidden place so they cannot see it.

The opinion has stirred a storm of irony and denouncement among Muslims online, with hundreds of comments mocking the cleric. One reader said that these religious “leaders” give Islam “a bad name” and another commented said that he is a “retarded” person and he must quite his post immediately.

Now, supporters of his son M.K.Stalin were also grabbing the next house land from a Brahmin community man, with an intention that the owner is from a weaker section of the society and he will not fight for it.

Mahmud of Ghazni invaded the Indian subcontinent during the early 11th century. Mahmud of Ghazni sacked the Somnath Temple in 1026, and looted it of gems and precious stones and the famous Shiva lingam of the temple was destroyed. Later the temple was demolished by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1706. Muhammad Ghori committed genocide against Hindus at Kol (modern Aligarh), Kalinjar and Varanasi, according to Hasan Nizami's Taj-ul-Maasir, 20,000 Hindu prisoners were slaughtered and their heads offered to crows. The reign of Aurangzeb was particularly brutal. No aspect of Aurangzeb's reign is more cited - or more controversial - than the numerous desecrations and even the destruction of Hindu temples.

Aurangzeb banned Diwali, placed a jizya (tax) on non-Muslims and martyred the ninth Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur. During his reign, tens of thousands of temples were desecrated: their facades and interiors were defaced and their murtis (divine images) looted. In many cases, temples were destroyed entirely; in numerous instances mosques were built on their foundations, sometimes using the same stones. Among the temples Aurangzeb destroyed were two that are most sacred to Hindus, in Varanasi and Mathura. In both cases, he had large mosques built on the sites. The Kesava Deo temple in Mathura, marked the place that Hindus believe was the birth place of Shri Krishna. In 1661

Aurangzeb ordered the demolition of the temple, and constructed the Katra Masjid mosque. Traces of the ancient Hindu temple can be seen from the back of the mosque. Aurangzeb also destroyed what was the most famous temple in Varanasi- the Vishwanath Temple.[29] The temple had changed its location over the years, but in 1585 Akbar had authorized its location at Gyan Vapi. Aurangzeb ordered its demolition in 1669 and constructed a mosque on the site, whose minarets stand 71 metres above the Ganges. In 1526 Kabul King Babar destroyed the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, located at the birthplace of Rama, and built the Babri Masjid on the holy site, which has since been a source of tension between the Hindu and Muslim communities. During the 1971 Bangladesh atrocities the atrocities are identified as genocide.

Many of the victims were Hindus, and the total death toll was in the millions. Known to be victims of kidnapping and forced conversion to Islam. Kabul King Babar demolished Ram Temple and constructed Babri Masjid on the site of Ram Temple in India. There is also no-body to question for this. Leaving the atrocities done by the Muslim Rulers to the Indians, Indian Government giving protection to the protestors of the Babri Masjid anniversary. It will only grow the differences between the two communities.

The Indian Government should think, whether Pakistan will allow the Anniversary day of the Hindu Temples destroyed their? Indians in India wants to live as friends with Muslims. The Indian Government should take steps to enlighten the Muslim community to leave their Anniversary day in future and to leave their differences with Indians.

DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, who was released recently on bail from the Tihar jail in the 2G spectrum case, on Saturday 3-12-2011 reached Chennai to a rousing reception by family members and party cadres on Saturday. Her father and DMK chief M Karunanidhi was at the city airport to greet her, while family members, friends and hundreds of party men thronged the domestic arrival area hours before the flight was scheduled to land, triggering a near-stampede. The flight landed at 1.15pm and when a beaming Kanimozhi, draped in a blue silk sari, emerged half-an hour later, her father and husband Aravindan by her side, traditional drums and lusty sloganeering by cadres greeted her. At her CIT Colony residence, where artists and women cadres received her with folk songs and dance and the traditional ‘aarati’, Kanimozhi told reporters that she was happy to be back home. “I really feel happy coming back to Chennai. I am thankful to my people and the party for so much support. It’s like a balm seeing them all again after the pain I have gone in the past six months.”

An FIR was registered against DMK leader M K Stalin former deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu, his son Udhayanidhi and four others for allegedly threatening a person to sell his property at a prime locality in Chennai at a lesser price.

The FIR followed a complaint by one N S Kumar residing at Alwarpet on November 29, 2011 alleging that one of Stalin's aides had forced him to sell his property at Chittaranjan Das Road at Teynampet area after getting the tenants to vacate it under threat, police said.

Police said the complainant informed that he was forced to sell the property for a lesser price of Rs. 5.54 crore but did not quantify what the market value was.

Acting on the complaint, Central Crime Branch registered a case against Stalin, Udhayanidhi, P Venugopalreddy, Raja Shankar, Subbareddy and Srinivas under various IPC sections including 120 B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) and 506 (criminal intimidation), they said.

Denying the charges, Stalin said, "The FIR against me is a Fraud Information Report. I will face it legally without seeking adjournment."

There is no use of blaming Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalitha that she is foisting case against him. If Stalin has records to prove that CM J Jayalalithaa for allegedly encroaching upon land in Kodanad in the Nilgiris, he can give a complaint to the Police Commissioner.

Once upon a Time, in a small village called Tenali lived a boy called Raman. Tenali was under the province of Vijayanagar, and then ruled by the King Krishnadevaraya. Rama was a clever boy, but was also very lazy.

One summer there was no rain in the village and all the crops had dried. After a long time of suffering, one day a sanyasi came to that village. As soon as he stepped into the village it started to rain. Everyone was very happy and gave credit to the Sanyasi and telling that he is great holy man. But Raman made fun of them and laughed. The sanyasi did not get angry but wanted to teach Raman a lesson which would be useful to him. He called him and told” My dear son, I will teach you a mantra, which you should chant thousand times in front of the goddess idol in the Mahakali temple. The goddess will appear and bless you.

Raman did as told, Goddess Kali appeared with her thousands heads. Rama took one look at her and laughed. “Why you are laughing?” asked Goddess Kali. Mother, I find it very difficult to wipe my nose when I have cold. I have only one nose and two hands. I just imagined you with a Thousand running noses.

Mahakali smiled and said, I see you very vitty, I shall give you a boon. Here are two bowls. One has the milk of learning and the other contains the milk of wealth choose one. Raman looked at two bowls. Mother how I can choose without even tasting either bowl. Will you allow me to taste before I decide? asked Raman. The goddess agreed.

Seizing this opportunity Raman quickly gobbled up the milk from both bowls. It was Annadurai's government that renamed the Madras State as Tamil Nadu. Annadurai as chief minister, the state assembly succeeded in passing the bill renaming the states. Another major achievement of Annadurai's government was to introduce a two language policy over the then popular three language formula. The three language formula, which was implemented in the neighbouring states entitled students to study three languages: the regional language, English and Hindi. It was during the period of his Chief Minister ship that the Second World Tamil Conference was conducted on a grand scale on 3 January 1968. Nevertheless, when a commemorative stamp was released to mark the Tamil conference, Annadurai expressed his dissatisfaction that the stamp contained Hindi when it was for Tamil.

In the year 1946-50, there were sporadic agitations against Hindi by the Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) and Periyar. Whenever the government introduced Hindi as a compulsory language in schools, anti-Hindi protests happened and succeeded in stopping the move. The largest anti-Hindi agitations in this period occurred in 1948-50. After India obtained independence in 1947, the Congress Government at the Centre urged all states to make Hindi compulsory in schools.

The Congress Government of Madras Presidency under Omandur Ramasamy Reddiar complied and made Hindi compulsory from the academic year 1948-49. It also introduced a minimum mark qualification in Hindi for the promotion of students to higher classes. Periyar once again launched an anti-Hindi agitation. The 1948 agitation was supported by former Congress nationalists like M. P. Sivagnanam and Thiru. Vi. Ka, who recanted their earlier pro-Hindi policies.

On 17 July, the DK convened an all party anti-Hindi conference to oppose the compulsory Hindi teaching. As in the agitation of 1938-40, this agitation was also characterized by strikes, black flag demonstrations and anti-Hindi processions.

When Rajaji (then the Governor-General of India) visited Madras on 23 August, the DK staged a black flag demonstration protesting against his visit. On 27 August, Periyar and Annadurai were arrested. The Government did not change its position on Hindi and the agitation continued. On 18 December, Periyar and other DK leaders were arrested again. A compromise was reached between the government and agitators. The government stopped the legal action against the agitators and they in turn dropped the agitation on 26 December 1948.

Repeated reference has been made in the central shrine of all Arabia, the” Kaba” at Mecca. What it did it signify? This cube shaped building, for that is the meaning of the word, measures about 39 feet by 33 and is a little over 49feet high. The chief object of the veneration in it ia the Black Stone, al-hajaru’l-aswad, which is built into the south-eastern corner, five feet above the ground. This stone is the oldest treasure of Mecca, and being in all probability an aero liter has been treated with awe from of old as something that fell from the sky. But this was only one, though a very special one, of many stones looked upon as sacred by the Arabs in those days before the establishment of the new faith. These stones of curious shapes, some long like human images and moulded by the action of wind and rain –these ( and not man made idols) were their object of worship, representing to them as God and goddesses. Some of them were worshipped where they stood; others were surrounded by a circle of stones or, like the black stone, were built into shrine.

At one time there were over 300 of these stones inside the Ka”ba. Such a shrine usually had a well in the neighbour-hood winch was used for ceremonial ablutions, and perhaps a sacred tree on which the worshippers hung votive offerings. The shrine and the surrounding area was haram, sacred territory, and all living things, men or animals, could find safe refuge within it. The very trees were sacred and no one was allowed to pluck a branch from them. Such sites were deserted for most of the year, but on special occasions the tribes assembled at these shrines and offered sacrifices, chiefly camels, to the particular god or goddess of their tribe. At the time of these sacrifices all present had to perform certain pacificator rites. They pored the blood of the sacrificial animal on the sacred stones and, after shaving their heads, ate of its flesh.

Sometimes the sacred stones were carried in procession as, for instance when there was a drought or at the time of the pilgrimages to the shrine, and then the procession concluded with a seven fold circumambulation of the shrine itself. Divination also was practiced at the shrines and in this the hahin or the soothsayer played his part.

There was no priestly class for the worship at the shrines. Their guardians and the soothsayers performed the necessary duties. The latter especially the female ones were believed to possess occult powers.

The Arabs were fatalists, with no clear idea of a future life or the immortality of the soul. They believed in and feared jinn. genii, beings half demon, half man, who had no alarming way of making themselves invisible. But in the century before Mohammad some Arabs were beginning to believe in Allah, the God of whom they said he was Allahu akbar, i.e., “Allah greater than” others.

We also appreciate and bow the way of faith of Arabians to God. We also feel that God will be every ware and even in the heart of good people who always thinking about to do good things to all human beings. We have to also think over that in the name of sacrifices any living creatures created by God should not be killed. It is my opinion that no God will accept such a cruel activity of killing animal to fulfill the wishes of the individuals.

In Kamasutra it tells all manner of challenging positions. Vatsyayana has given the art of love making a dual responsibility and given both the sexes equal level of satisfaction. There are positions in the Kamasutra where woman-power is given lot of importance. Vatsyayana and Thiruvalluvar in Thirukkural have given woman so much supremacy in love making and telling man under her control.

1.The Kshudgaga Position Vatsyayana describes this position as follows:

The wife sits with raised thighs, her feet placed either side of your waist; "linga" (penis) enters "yoni" (vagina); you rain hard blows upon her body: This is "Kshudgaga". Thus in this position the woman sits astride the man with her feet positioned on either side of his waist and the man enters her with hard blows. This position gives very limited scope of penetration and enjoyment.

2.The Padma Position Vatsyayana describes this position as follows:

The man sitting facing her, he grasp her ankles and fasten them like a chain behind your neck, and she grips her toes as you make love, it is the delightful "Padma" (The Lotus)." In this position the woman has to sit on the man's lap facing him and the man lifts the woman's ankles which he positions behind his neck. He then proceeds to enter her while she grabs hold of her feet and helps the thrusting motion

3.The Kaurma Position Vatsyayana describes this position as follows:

The man and lady seated face to face, his toes caress the lovely woman's nipples, her feet press your chest and you make love holding each other's hands It is "Kaurma", the Tortoise." This is an extremely intimate and sensuous position in which touching and eye-contact is very important. The partners face each other in a seated position with their feet on each other's chest. "Sitting face to face in bed, her breasts pressed tight against your chest, let each of you lock heels behind the other's waist, and lean back clasping one another's wrists.

4.The Dolita Position Vatsyayana describes this position as follows:

This is Dolita Position (The Swing)) This position is basically about togetherness and being physically intimate. The penetration and thrusts here is almost negligent because of the peculiarity of the position.

5. The Samdamsha Position .

This is "Samdamsha". In this position where Vatsyanana gives absolute power and control to the woman. The man in this position literally has to back and enjoy while the woman has to do all the hard work. In this position the woman enjoys all the supremacy and can control the thrusts and penetration. Thus in this position the woman has to sit on the man's lap and she holds the man's penis in a vice-like grip and skillfully manipulates Movement inside her till and controls the thrusts and penetration.

The Mughal emperor Aurangazeb was a strict Muslim of Sunni sect. The story of his reign would have been very different had he followed the policy deemed wise by his father Shah-Jahan. He only liked others of his line. He lived in dread of being poisoned. His courtiers and officers lived in fear of him, for which all respected him none loved him. Made wise from personal experience he imprisoned his own sons, one for life and another for six years because he suspected them of disloyalty. Aurangazeb nevertheless was sufficiently a Mughal to maintain a court of dazzling splendor. Delhi the city of Shah-Jahan was his favourite capital. The beautiful and famous hall of audience in the palace was often the scene of such amazing brilliance as to merit the inscription over its entrance. The famous Peacock Golden Throne constructed by Shah-Jahan, was perhaps the most arresting ornament. The value of the Throne is more than Six crores in those days.

When twenty years of his reign had passed by Aurngazeb seemed to rouse him from the tolerance he never felt and only half concealed. In Benares he destroyed the Temple of Vishnu and then razed to the ground a shrine at Mathura and on its site built a Mosque. He had the idols brought to Agra where they were buried under the steps of a Mosque, so that Muslims might feel they were trampling them underfoot.

It was a gratuitous insult to all Hindus, including the Rajputs. Aurangazeb now bethought himself of the still unconquered Deccan and turned South onwards on a punitive expedition. In Marhattas of the Konkan and Western Ghats, Hindus emerged as tireless fighters in guerilla warfare. Their leader Shivaji having established himself in the Konkan, and after gaining several successes was forced to make terms with Aurangazeb. Shivaji spirit lived in the nation he had created.

Aurangazeb conquered the Deccan. The majority of his army had no taste for service under him and went over to Marhattas. His forces just failed of success mainly because of he no longer had the assistance of the Rajputs.

Aurangazebs zealous faith could not save him from the dread of approaching death. His grave is in the obscure village of Roza, near Aurangabad.

By destroying the worship place of others faith, Aurangazeb never attained any mental peace. It is a lesson for every body that they should not indulge in others faith.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, chairing the first conference of collectors and police officers on 13, 14-11-2011 after she came to power in May, has sought their cooperation for corruption-free governance. “Corruption is the biggest hindrance to achieving the goal of good governance. As district heads, collectors have the onerous task of cleaning up the system and improving service delivery. People expect and deserve a corruption-free service delivery system,” she said in her speech.

She also recalled her strong actions against the land grabbers in the state. “We have embarked on a course of putting down antisocial elements and rowdies. Swift and stringent action against land grabbers has restored confidence in the state government and the police. This action will be followed up by enabling the restoration of lands and properties to the original owners through due process,” Jayalalithaa said.

The chief minister also spoke about the various measures taken by her government in fields to improve the living conditions of the poor. “Agriculture, local body administration, health, education, welfare measures, particularly, welfare of the backward communities in the state continue to be our priorities,” she said.

Jayalalithaa also pointed out that eliminating poverty, bridging the rural-urban divide in infrastructure and income gap, achieving gender equity, skill building and employment generation are the key issues of her government.

“It’s my dream that everybody in Tamil Nadu should get everything. This government will ensure that the poor and the downtrodden are provided with the necessary assistance to lead a decent and dignified life,” she told the officials.

Rajasthan’s sacked water resource minister Mahipal Maderna, embroiled in a sleaze scandal, was late on Saturday 12-11-2011 suspended from the Congress party’s primary membership. Maderna, who is facing investigation on charges of kidnapping of government nurse Bhanwari Devi, is being questioned by the CBI.

The much talked about sex tape involving senior Congress leader Mahipal Maderna and government nurse Bhanwari Devi (36) were telecast on a few TV news channels on Thursday. The telecast of the tape coincided with the first-time quizzing of Maderna by the CBI in Jodhpur.

Maderna, a former minister, was seen in a compromising position and talking intimate with Bhanwari in the 48-minute tape that seems to be shot at some hotel or a guesthouse. The tape is set to have a serious bearing on the ongoing investigation in the Bhanwari Devi missing case and Maderna's arrest seems imminent. The CBI, after seven-hour interrogation, allowed Maderna to go on Thursday. The agency has summoned him on Friday too.

Murmurs about the sex tape were doing rounds ever since Bhanwari went missing on September 1. Her husband Amarchand had on September 6 alleged that his wife had been kidnapped and killed at the behest of Maderna. Later, the court ordered to book Maderna on September 11 on charges of rape, kidnap and murder on a petition filed by Amarchand.

Agency sources said that during the interrogation on Thursday, Maderna had admitted his relationship with Bhanwari. However, he denied that he was part of the conspiracy to kidnap or murder the missing nurse.

The Ministers must first realize that they have been appointed for redressing the grievances of public and it is their fundamental duty to serve the people in an honest way and they must stand as a symbol in guiding others.

The visit of a DMK Rajya Sabha member Vasanthi Stanley to a temple in Kancheepuram to offer special prayers for Kanimozhi’s early release on bail has created a flutter in party circles. The DMK, which claims to follow the rationalist principles, has lately seen many of its senior’s make a beeline to temples in troubled times.

Party sources said Vasanthi on Thursday 10-11-2011 went to a Shiva temple in Kancheepuram in which the deity, it is believed, “helped devotees to get out of legal tangles”. A priest in the temple said, “Of late, many officials and politicians visit this temple. On Thursday, we performed ‘annabishekam’ for Lord Shiva.”

The DMK took an official stand on the issue and distanced itself from Vasanthi Stanley’s temple visit, saying “it was the MP’s decision and the party had nothing to do with it.”

DMK’s organising secretary TK S Elangovan said, “Vasanthi Stanley’s visit to the temple did not have the party headquarter's consent. We like to clarify that the party has nothing to do with it.

The 2G trial court on 3-11-2011 rejected Kanimozhi’s bail plea saying the DMK Rajya Sabha member belonged to an elite section of society and therefore could not claim the privilege of being a woman to seek bail.

Judge .P Saini’s 76-page order said the accused “belongs to upper echelons of the society and is also a Member of Parliament. By no stretch of imagination she can be said to be suffering from any discrimination on ground of being a woman alone.”

Kanimozhi, who has been in Tihar jail for the past five months, had sought bail under Section 437 of the criminal code on the ground of being a woman.

Saini said the privilege is accorded to women accused as they are generally considered a weak and exploited section of society, both socially and economically, and deserve extra protection and sympathetic treatment. But if one asks whether this consideration should apply to Kanimozhi, he said, “The answer to the question is an emphatic ‘No’.”

Citing a Supreme Court order, the judge said a murder may be committed in the heat of the moment but an economic offence is committed with cool calculation for personal profit regardless of the consequences for the state.

“For the aforesaid reasons, I am satisfied that no case for bail is made out for any of the accused,” the order said.

The accused had argued they deserved bail because they had been languishing in jail for five to nine months and because the trial could take a long time thanks to the long list of witnesses. The court rejected this argument too.

“In circumstances of a particular case, these factors may be relevant... but in some cases, it may not be so,” Saini said, citing a high court order.

“If a person knows that even after misappropriating huge public funds, he can come out on bail after spending a few months in jail and thereafter can continue to enjoy the ill-gotten wealth, obtained by illegal means, that would only encourage many others to commit similar crimes,” he said.

“Not everyone would mind luxurious living for him and his family even if it comes at the cost of spending a few months in jail. A strong message therefore needs to be sent to these white-collar criminals and those... waiting in the wings that, in the long run, it does not pay to be on the wrong side of the law.”

The court said that after the framing of charges, “the case has crystallized against the accused.... It has moved to a higher pedestal, that is, from the stage of suspicion or grave suspicion, it has reached the higher stage of prima facie acceptability.” The court refuses bail to Kani, 7 others in 2G case.

Karunanidhi was so far under wrong impression that the Central Government was running only on the alliance strength of DMK. Knowingly he has made his daughter to be a victim in the 2g scam money by getting 200 cores as loan to Kalignar TV. Now there is no use of blaming Congress or any other persons in this scam event. Karunanidhi henceforth must remember the proverb “Evil be gets evil”.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa getting a unanimous resolution passed in the state assembly asking the union government to grant clemency to the three LTTE assassins of Rajiv Gandhi. Immediately after Jayalalithaa’s announcement in the House that she was helpless in getting the death sentence of Santhan, Perarivalan and Murugan commuted to life imprisonment, the DMK president drove down to his party headquarters and released a statement to the media asking the state and central governments to quash the death sentence of the trio.

But by that time Jayalalithaa had shown to the world that Karunanidhi is a master in doublespeak.

Though the clemency petitions of Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalaan had come to him in 2000 when he was the chief minister, Karunanidhi chose to look the other way.

“It is strange that he is pleading to the state and central governments for mercy on the three Tamil youths. When he was calling the shots in UPA 1 he did nothing to get the presidential pardon for Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan. He was more worried about getting plum cabinet postings for his children and grand nephews,” said P Nedumaran, leader of Tamil Nationalist Movement.

He said a word from the DMK president would have made a lot of difference. Nedumaran pointed out that the first thing done by Pratibha Patilafter getting elected as President was to make a visit to Chennai to thank the people of Tamil Nadu.

“But Karunanidhi is more concerned about saving Raja and Kanimozhi. He did nothing to help these three persons,” he said.

The 1998 Coimbatore bombings occurred on Saturday, February 14, 1998, in the city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. 46 persons - 35 men, 10 women and one child - were killed and over 200 injured in 13 bomb attacks in 11 places , all of them within a 12 km radius, 4 bombs were planted at R S Puram area, two near Bus Stand, 1 near Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and at Ukkadam area. It was told that these car bombs were the work of Muslim fundamentalist group "Al Umma" which had a strong presence in Coimbatore.

The bomb blast also had strong political implications. The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate C. P. Radhakrishnan won by a record margin of over 1,00,000 votes in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections.

THE final report of the Justice P.R. Gokulakrishnan Commission of Inquiry, which was set up by the Tamil Nadu Government to inquire into the causes of and circumstances that led to the serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore on February 14, 1998, is a stinging indictment of the Coimbatore police. The report says that "it is definite... the lapse on the part of the police personnel, deputed for surveillance and checks, in discharging their duties more vigorously, vigilantly and intelligently" enabled the Al-Umma "terrorists to execute their dastardly plan of planting bombs" that killed 50 persons and injured 200.

Now at MADURAI, Tamilnadu Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani will continue his Jan Chetna Yatra on Friday 28-10-2011 , but possibly with a minor change in the route after explosives were found under a bridge at a village near here, the party said.

A crude 6 feet long pipe bomb was found under a bridge at Alampatti village on the outskirts of Madurai city hours before Advani's janchetana yatra was to pass through.

Local people discovered the pipe bomb, filled with some sort of explosive material with long wires jutting out and informed the police. The bomb was removed and police carried out extensive searches along the route.

Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra, aimed at fighting black money and corruption, started on Oct 11 and will end on Nov 20.

During the Tirupur Mayor Election propaganda meeting, Manian described Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Jayalalitha as olden day’s queen. Whatever manian says is correct or not, the olden days emperor Karunanidhi, in 2006 local body elections, instructed all his men to capture the Vote Booths and the public were threatened by rowdies and they themselves voted for their party candidates. Now the public, to educate a lesson for DMK, they have now voted for AIADMK.

There is no doubt in MDMK leader Vaiko is a great personality, who is sincerely working for the uplift of our Tamil brethrens in Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka. The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu appears all set to sweep the local body elections, leading in all the 10 corporations and a majority of the municipalities and town panchayats. In Chennai, AIADMK’s mayoral candidate Sadai Duraisamy beat his nearest rival, the DMK’s M Subramanian. “It is the biggest ever victory Chennai has seen. It is an endorsement of Amma’s welfare schemes,” said an elated Duraisamy.

Thanking the voters of Tamil Nadu for giving her party a massive victory in both the by-election to the Trichy-West constituency and the local body elections, chief minister J Jayalalithaa said, “We are going to see a prosperous Tamil Nadu through good governance and better administration. We will change the state and set an example to others.” She said the results had shown that the people had given a ‘good’ certificate to her governance. “My hard work will continue,” she said.

Of the 125 municipalities, AIADMK has won 88 and DMK 23. Independents managed to grab five, including Bodinayakanur and Anakaputhur. Congress drew nil in municipalities, while DMDK and its ally CPM shared two each. MDMK and BJP won Kulithalai and Nagercoil respectively. Of the 529 town panchayats, the AIADMK won 284 and the DMK 121.

With the AIADMK sweeping the local body elections, leaving a few posts for the rival DMK, the allies of the two Dravidian majors have been swept to the wayside. The biggest loser is Vijayakanth’s DMDK, a former AIADMK ally which enjoys the opposition party status in the state assembly. While the Congress’ performance has been marginally better than the DMDK, the other former DMK allies, the PMK and the VCK, have fared poorly. The performance of the AIADMK’s erstwhile allies, the CPI and the CPM, has also been unremarkable.

The AIADMK and the DMK distanced themselves from their allies and decided to contest on their own. Expectations were that the elections would be a test of the individual strength of these parties, all of which jumped into the fray. The parties were hoping that their individual performances could also provide leverage while bargaining for seats in alliances for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

The results also prove that the reach of national parties like the Congress, the BJP and the Left in the state is very limited. Surprisingly, the MDMK has got votes in some pockets. The PMK and the VCK have failed to impress. Analysts pointed out voters were not willing to take risks by voting for these parties as their track record in local body elections have been poor.

It is a lesson for DMk which swept the local body polls in 2006 amid violence and allegations of booth rigging. AIADMK boycotted that election.

For the illegal atrocity done by the DMK in 2006 elections, people have now punished that party by voting for AIADMK with real democratic sense.

Elected members of AIADMK must take the advice of Puratchith thalaivi Amma in redressing the grievances of people and make their wards with cleanliness and set an example to others.

Several schools and private people have joined in this exhibition, to win the prizes offered by Parle Navratri is divided into sets of three days to adore three different aspects of the supreme goddess or goddesses.In South India, people set up steps and place idols on them. This is known as golu. First three days The goddess is separated as a spiritual force called Durga also known as Kali in order to destroy all our impurities. Second three days The Mother is adored as a giver of spiritual wealth, Lakshmi, who is considered to have the power of bestowing on her devotees inexhaustible wealth, as she is the goddess of wealth. Final three days The final set of three days is spent in worshipping the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati. In order to have all-round success in life, believers seek the blessings of all three aspects of the divine femininity, hence the nine nights of worship. In some parts of South India, Saraswati puja is performed on the 9th day. Ayudha Puja is conducted in many parts of South India on the Mahanavami (Ninth) day with much fanfare. Weapons, agricultural implements, all kinds of tools, equipments, machinery and automobiles are decorated and worshipped on this day along with the worship of Goddess. The work starts afresh from the next day, i.e. the 10th day which is celebrated as 'Vijaya Dashami'. Many teachers/Schools in south India start teaching Kindergarten children from that day onwards. During Navrathri, some devotees of Durga observe a fast and prayers are offered for the protection of health and prosperity. A period of introspection and purification, Navratri is traditionally an auspicious and religious time for starting new ventures. Serial Blasts hits not only Mumbai, but several crores of Indians heart.

Serial blasts struck Mumbai on 13-7-2011 evening, less than three years after the 26/11 terrorist attacks of 2008. The three blasts, in sequence, were timed at 6.30 pm, 6.45 pm, and 7 pm IST, and targeted in that order Zaveri Bazaar, Opera House and the Kabutarkhana area of Dadar West. Zaveri Bazaar, centre of the jewellery industry, is adjacent the iconic Mumbadevi temple from which the city derives its name; both Zaveri Bazaar and Kabutarkhana were also targeted in the 1993 serial blasts.

No other city in the world has been the tragic target of as many serial terror attacks and bombings as Mumbai: 1993, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2008 and now July 13, 2011.

On 13-7-2011 Wednesday evening, three serial bomb blasts in the span of 12 minutes ripped through three of the busiest hubs in the city — Zaveri Bazar, Opera House and Dadar — at rush hour, killing 18 people and injuringmore than 100. The first explosion was at 6.54 pm at Zaveri Bazaar, followed by another at Opera House a minute later. The third explosion was at 7.06pm outside Kabutarkhana, a few metres away from the western side of Dadar railway station. This is the third terror attack at Zaveri Bazar.

The explosives with timer devices were kept on or near vehicles at Opera House and Zaveri Bazar while at Dadar a bus stop was the target. The police said the three locations, two of which were ‘khau gallis’, had been chosen for maximum impact. Police commissioner Arup Patnaik said it was a terrorist attack.

While the Mumbai police have not named any outfit responsible for the blasts, sources say that it could be the handiwork of a banned outfit, the Indian Muslims [Mujahideen ](IM), which recently formed a group, called the 313 Squad and has been recruiting youngsters to it.

Due to the invasion of Muslims to India from tenth centaury the immemorial systems, rule and customs of Indian people were subjected to a rude shocks. Mohamed Ghazni came to Hindustan in 1018 and from the Matura temple he gained vast treasure having smashed to pieces immense idols of gold and silver. During 1025-26 he captured Somnath in Gujarat and killed several thousands of Hindus. In its costly Temple to the dumb amazement of its protectors he sacked the place carrying on to Ghazni the famous golden gates of the temple and treasure worth one million pounds sterling.

Even to-day the spirit of the foreign policy of Pakistan was not even ideological. It was purely anti-Indian just like the Muslim rulers. Pakistan repudiated its own slogan of peace talk which its leaders had been shouting for over a decade in pursuit of anti-Indian objectives. Our Prime Minister giving monetary compensation to the victims is only a temporary consolation. He must take stringent action in removing the Pakistan extremist activities in India.
